Hi,

I need to create ODBC on Linux for Mysql Database.
I followed as far as the documentation provided in the easy soft.com
site but I am getting the GUI Window to create the DSN for the database.

Please guide me as how to proceed.

Regards,
Sarath Mitta

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply. We have PostgresSQL in mind and we have
downloaded
UnixODBC source from web, and built the source on this Unix-like OS. All
libraries have been created under /usr/local directory tree after giving
make install.

Libraries for PostgresSQL has also been created under
Drivers/PostgresSQL &
Drivers/Postgres7.1.

Please let us know how we could proceed further.

Thank you,

Regards,
Pankaj.

Ok, so you should now have a postgres driver. What am I missing?

Hi Nick,

The Postgresql driver with UnixODBC has been generated as a static
library
as: "libodbcpsql.a". But in the template file to be used with odbcinst
command, it requires an .so file.

Do we have to enable the shared libraries at the time of configuration
of
UnixODBC? Also, is this the way we could test the ODBC driver without
GUI?

odbcinst -i -f postgres.template

Thanks.

Regards,
Pankaj.

Ok, libtool has decide to build a static not shared lib. you need to
check how libtool supports your "unix like" os.

No, that just adds the template to the ini file, you can use

isql -v dsn user pass

to test it.
