[unixODBC-support] libodbc.so.1 is needed ...

It's just the Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) complaining.
When you install unixODBC from source the files don't get registered in
the RPM database even if they are in (linked to) the right place.

Either install an appropriate unixODBC rpm or use
  rpm -i iSeriesAccess-5.2.0-1.10.i386.rpm --nodeps
to disable the RPM dependency checking during driver installation.

My preferred choice are RPMs because they can be uninstalled/upgraded
