Or it could be that he needs /usr/ccs/bin in PATH.

I build unixODBC for Solaris, but I do not use gcc very often.  But
when I do use gcc, I still have to set PATH correctly.

If anyone is interested, unixODBC packages are available for Solaris 8
and later at www.blastwave.org
