[unixODBC-support] Java Sun JDBC Drivers with UNIXODBC ?

sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver is just the "Bridge" between JDBC and ODBC
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/jdbc/getstart/bridge.doc.html 

You still need a (unix)ODBC database driver for your database.
http://www.unixodbc.org/drivers.html

Once you have unixODBC and the ODBC driver for your database up and running and your DSN set up and tested, you should be able to access your data through the JDBC-ODBC bridge:

  jdbc:odbc:<odbc-data-source-name>[<odbc-data-source-attribute-name>=<attribute-value>]*
  e.g. jdbc:odbc:mydb;UID=me;PWD=secret
