No idea about the configuration but I guess what you need is a JDBC-ODBC bridge, unixODBC and a quality ODBC driver for your database.

The comments about the Sun/Merant JDBC-ODBC bridge look rather discouraging for production use.
You might want to have a look at alternatives e.g. Easysoft JDBC-ODBC Bridge
